Doula Spotlight: Joshuelle Solomon

Joshuelle is a full spectrum doula originally located in London Ontario. Today she’s located in Toronto and so far, she loves it! You can learn more about her on her website, and you can folllow her on Instagram.

1. What inspired you to get into doula work?

My admiration, awe and love for new parents and babies inspired me to pursue birth work. Many moons ago I thought I would go to med school to be an OB, but I found the biomedical model of care wasn't compatible with how I wanted to support people. Doula-ing combines my passions for science, storytelling and community, and affords me the privilege of watching people grow in some pretty remarkable ways. Since every experience is unique, it keeps me on my toes, but also grounded...it's a paradox!

2. What does CARE mean to you?

Care is anticipating and meeting one's needs. For my clients it means that I inquire about their mental, physical, and spiritual health and find meaningful ways to help them. Care is also establishing healthy boundaries between my work and personal lives so that I can fill my cup and offer my best self.

3. Favourite Ice Cream flavour & why?

Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Therapy. It's a chocolate base with cookie and fudge and it has a rich taste and it's perfect and now I'm thinking of buying some :)
