About OBDS

We created the OBDS as a way to expand our community, to validate our experiences, and to amplify Black voices.

  • Vision

We look forward to seeing health systems rooted in anti-racism and deep community care.

We intend to support doulas who work toward equity and anti-racism as they fill the gaps in healthcare that lead to significant disparities in Black communities.

  • Mission

Our goal is to expand the understanding of what a doula does; To change the way we doula.

    We aim to:

    1. Create awareness about the need for and value of doula care that is culturally competent.

    2. Raise awareness about Black maternal health disparities

    3. Support as many culturally & structurally competent doulas as possible and promote their practices.
