How it all began…

It all started with a need for:

It all began with a need.

A need for change, community, education and support for doulas and the clients we serve.

What started out as a social support group between 7 doulas blossomed into this space, Ontario Black Doula Society.

During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic a group of doulas came together to say, enough is enough.

We were all at different places in our doula careers but one thing we had in common was the lack of community and lack of cultural competent education that was available to doulas in Ontario.

We recognized how limited the industry was here and we wanted to take a stand, and let our fellow BIPOC community know that we can speak up for change.

We wanted to change the way we doula, so we created Ontario Black Doula Society.
